Doing Math With Python in Anthropic Copyright Settlement

In what can only be described as sign of the times, one of the books I wrote, arguably, the most impactful one, Doing Math With Python is one of the works in the Anthropic Copyright Settlement.

Doing Math with Python

This is just a post to commemorate this time in history and in a bizarre twist, me being part of it.

Off late, I have realized, I don’t like an “agent” doing my software work. My goal is to write code, the process of it, not the end result. Sure, I like the end result, but it appears my dopamine hit is in the process. Also, my brain can’t handle all the interruptions and context switches. So, I continue to craft it by hand, faultering, writing bad code. But it’s atleast code I know how to handle and manage next time I need to do something with it.

I use Chatgpt, gemini and friends as a more efficient form of stackoverflow searches, mostly.

I have disabled all inline code editing and hinting, for a while, which is true to my form, since I also used to dislike autocompletions - the basic kind.

In other Doing Math With Python news, I have donated a copy of the book now in my local library and people are checking it out. And a copy in the Capetown Central Library. It’s cool. One book. One person. Amazing possibilities.
